[Source] Medicinal material source: the roots, seeds or stems and leaves of the Guangzhou mandarin orange plant of the Caprifoliaceae family.

[Original form] Guangzhou caper is a climbing shrub. The twigs are straight, angular when young, covered with light yellow short soft hairs, with internodes 1-4cm long; the thorns are hard, flat or curved outward, with dark black tips, and the thorns on the flowering branches are small or absent. Petiole 4-6mm long; leaf blade nearly leathery, oblong or oblong-lanceolate, with a small convex tip. The panicle is terminal, composed of several to multiple subumbels, each subumbel has more than eleven flowers, and the peduncle is 1-3cm long; the bracts are subulate, 1-2mm long, and fall off early; the buds are spherical, 3-4mm in diameter; the pedicels are 7-12mm long; the flowers are white and have a strong scent; the sepals are 4-5mm long and about 3mm wide, the outer 2 are slightly larger, boat-shaped, covered with short soft hairs on the outside, and the edges are membranous, while the inner 2 are slightly smaller, elliptical or obovate, with white membranous edges and white cilia; the petals are obovate or oblong, 4-6mm long, 1.5-2.5mm wide, often covered with white soft hairs in the middle and lower parts of the inner surface; the stamens are 20-45, and the gynophore is 6-8mm; the ovary is nearly elliptical, with 2 placentas. The fruit is spherical to ellipsoidal with a diameter of 10-15mm, and the pericarp is thin, leathery and smooth; there are one to several seeds, which are spherical or nearly ellipsoidal, 6-7mm long. Flowering and fruiting are recorded almost throughout the year.
