[Source] Medicinal material source: The roots and stems of the plant Rhizoma Cibotii of the Rhizoma Cibotii family.

[Original form] Grey-backed Pleurotus eryngii is an evergreen climbing woody vine. Old branches are dark brown with a wax layer, while young branches have longitudinal stripes. Simple leaves are alternate; petiole is 0.7-1.5cm long; leaf blade is papery, ovate, elliptic-ovate or elliptic, 4-7cm long, 2-4cm wide, pointed or obtuse at the tip, rounded or broadly cuneate at the base, green above, black after drying, pale below; 3-5 lateral veins on each side. The flowers are bisexual, with umbels in cymes, 4-5 flowers, peduncle 1-1.5cm long, pedicel 4-7mm long; 5 sepals, triangular-ovate, ciliate; 5 petals, ovate or elliptic-ovate, with veins; 5 stamens, anthers dehiscing outwards; disc cup-shaped; ovary glabrous. The schizocarps are light red, obovate-round or obovate; the rib in the core is significantly raised and wing-shaped. The flowering period is March-April, and the fruiting period is May-August.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in mountain shrub forests below 1000m above sea level.

【Nature and flavor】 sweet; bitter; neutral

【Functions and indications】 Dispel wind and dampness; promote blood circulation and relieve pain. Mainly used for rheumatism, bone pain, injuries from falls, and hepatitis

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 6-9g. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash it for application; or boil it in water for washing.
