[Source] Medicinal material source: the bulb of Freesia odorata of the iris species.

[Original form] Freesia is a perennial herb. The bulb is narrowly ovate or oval, covered with a membranous reticular integument with pink spots. The leaves are sword-shaped or strip-shaped, slightly curved, 15-40cm long, 0.5-1.4cm wide, yellow-green; the midrib is obvious. The upper part of the peduncle has 2-3 curved branches and several leaves below; the flowers are sessile; each flower has 2 membranous bracts at the base; the flowers are upright, light yellow or yellow-green, and fragrant; the perianth tube is trumpet-shaped, with 6 perianth lobes arranged in 2 whorls, the inner whorl of perianth lobes being slightly shorter and narrower than the outer whorl; there are 3 stamens, attached to the perianth tube; there is 1 style, with 6-lobed stigma, and the ovary is green and nearly spherical. Capsule nearly oval. The back of the chamber is cracked. The flowering period is April-May, and the fruiting period is June-September.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Most of them are cultivated in the open air in southern my country, and mostly in potted plants in northern China.

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and detoxifies; cools blood and stops bleeding. Mainly used for blood heat, epistaxis, vomiting blood, blood in stool, metrorrhagia, dysentery, sores, bleeding from external injuries, and snake bites

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 3-10g. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash it for application.
