[Source] Medicinal material source: The root of the Verbenaceae plant Lithospermum microphylla .

[Original form] Small-leaved Lithops, a thornless small shrub, plant height 0.3-2m. The twigs are slender, cylindrical, dark brown, sparsely pubescent, falling off later, and with sparsely small lenticels. Simple leaves are opposite; petiole is 0.3-1cm long; leaf blade is nearly rounded broad ovate or rhombus, 1.5-2.5cm long, 1.2-2.2cm wide or smaller, base is slightly oblique, cuneate or obtuse, entire or with 1-2 shallow coarse teeth in the middle and lower part, and blunt tip. The surface is hairless, and the back is densely covered with silvery-white glandular dots. The panicle is terminal, with few flowers, large flowers, 3-4cm long, short pedicels, with 2 lanceolate bracts near the tip; the calyx is bell-shaped, about 1cm long. Dark purple, calyx teeth 5, irregular triangular to oval, 5-7mm long, covered with tiny glandular dots, calyx teeth and calyx tube sparsely with 1-8 black disc-shaped glands; corolla lavender, initially covered with glandular hairs and yellow glandular dots, then falling off, funnel-shaped, with two lips at the apex, the upper lip entire or two shallowly lobed, the middle lobe of the lower lip enlarged, nearly wing-shaped. Yellow inside, 4 stamens, didynamous, long stamens slightly extending outside the corolla. The drupe is obovate, 10-16mm long, with a fleshy exocarp that is black when dry and has a bowl-shaped enlarged calyx. The flowering period is June, and the fruiting period is July-September.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing under limestone jungles, in thickets or on dry and barren slopes at an altitude of 1500-1700m.
