【English Name】 Low Grass Fern

[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of the dwarf-leaved fern of the Fernaceae family.

【Original morphology】 Plant height 6-14cm. The rhizome is short and horizontal, and together with the base of the petiole, is densely covered with dark brown, coarse sieve-like, iridescent lanceolate scales. Leaves are closely spaced; petiole is short; leaf blade is nearly leathery, narrowly linear or linear, 5-12cm long, 1-3mm wide, base gradually narrows and extends downward to petiole, strongly recurved, forming longitudinal grooves on both sides of midrib; midrib is slightly concave above, narrow, rounded and angular below, uneven. The sporangium is dorsally located on the leaf margin near the middle and distributed in the groove between the midrib and the leaf edge. The inner edge of the groove does not have a raised ridge and is usually covered by a strongly recurved leaf margin with long-stalked annular septa.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: epiphytic on tree trunks or rocks in the forest.

[Properties] Identification by properties: The rhizome is thin and weak, with scales; the scales are lanceolate to oblong, gray-brown with iridescent luster, and have sparse serrations on the edges. Petiole short; leaf blade papery, narrowly linear-lanceolate, 5-12cm long, 1-2.5mm wide, obtuse at apex, gradually narrowing at base, midrib concave above, midrib raised below. The sporangium clusters are located near the leaf edge and are often covered by the recurved leaf margin. Slight smell, bitter and astringent taste.
