Is Sophora flavescens good for treating hemorrhoids?

Hemorrhoids are one of the most common diseases among people who sit for a long time. People's current eating habits can easily lead to constipation. Coupled with the reduction in exercise, it will induce hemorrhoids in the long run. The main symptom of hemorrhoids is blood in the stool. Severe cases may cause anal fistula and anemia. Once you have hemorrhoids, you must seek timely treatment. In addition to surgical treatment, hemorrhoids can also be treated with some folk remedies. Sophora flavescens is one of them. Is Sophora flavescens good for treating hemorrhoids?

Causes of hemorrhoids: Standing or sitting for a long time, carrying heavy loads for a long time and traveling long distances can affect venous return, slow blood flow in the pelvis and cause congestion of abdominal organs, causing excessive filling of the hemorrhoidal veins, decreased tension of the venous walls, and easy congestion and dilation of the blood vessels. Insufficient exercise, reduced intestinal peristalsis, slow downward movement of feces, or habitual constipation can compress and stimulate the veins, causing local congestion and blood reflux obstruction, increasing pressure in the hemorrhoidal veins and reducing resistance of the venous walls.

The harm of hemorrhoids: If hemorrhoids are not treated for a long time, they can cause hemorrhoid prolapse and incarceration, aggravating the pain and condition. Secondly, anal infection. Once hemorrhoid bleeding symptoms occur, bacteria, toxins, and pus clots can easily invade the blood and cause sepsis. In addition, due to the prolapse of hemorrhoids, the sphincter relaxes and mucus flows out of the anus, which irritates the surrounding skin for a long time and can easily lead to itching and skin eczema.

Fumigation and washing with Sichuan pepper and Sophora flavescens for the treatment of hemorrhoids

Take 5 qian each of Sichuan pepper, Sophora flavescens, Artemisia annua and Artemisia selengensis, add water and boil for 20 to 30 minutes. After cooling down slightly, fumigate and wash the affected area 3 times a day. One dose can be used for 4 days. Generally, the condition will improve after 2 to 3 days of washing.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that hemorrhoids are mostly caused by accumulation of damp heat and stagnation of qi and blood in the rectum and anus. Qi Ai is a type of mugwort that everyone is more familiar with. For hemorrhoids caused by stagnation of qi and blood, Sichuan pepper and Qi Ai in the prescription are more suitable, because they are both medicines that disperse blood stasis and promote qi circulation; for hemorrhoids caused by accumulation of dampness and heat, Sophora flavescens and Artemisia annua are more suitable, because they have the effect of clearing heat and removing dampness. According to Western medical research and analysis, these four medicinal herbs also have bactericidal effects. Therefore, this prescription has a certain auxiliary therapeutic effect on both types of hemorrhoids.
