What are the effects and functions of Gangbangui?

The herb can play a very good antibacterial role, especially against Staphylococcus aureus, Group B Streptococcus, and Corynebacterium diphtheriae, etc. It has a very good antibacterial effect on these bacteria. It can also control and treat eczema and regulate blood pressure.

1. Antibacterial effect: The antibacterial efficacy of the decoction of this product against Shigella dysenteriae, Smith's, Flexneri and Sonnei are 1:512:1:128, 1:64:1:15 respectively. In addition, the decoction of this product also has a strong antibacterial effect on Staphylococcus aureus, Group B Streptococcus, Bacillus anthracis, Corynebacterium diphtheria, Bacillus subtilis, Salmonella typhi, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Haemophilus influenzae.

2. Antiviral effect: In the in vitro antiviral test of chicken embryo, the antiviral titer of this product decoction against Asian influenza A virus and parainfluenza type 1 virus was 1:160: and 1:64 respectively; the effect was not obvious in the in vitro test of chicken embryo.

3. Other effects: The 95% ethanol extract of this product has an antihypertensive effect on rats with renal hypertension. The active ingredient 3,3′-dimethylgallic acid has a significant effect on cardiac contractility and blood pressure when administered to conscious rats with renal hypertension. According to the Ames test, the water extract of this product has a certain anti-mutagenic effect, and the mutagenesis inhibition rate is above 10%. In addition, this product has an inhibitory effect on tumors in experimental animals, and the gelatin cellulose in Kangbangui has a hemostatic effect.

4. Treatment of whooping cough: Take 1 liang of Kangbangui (reduce the amount for infants), stir-fry it with white wine, then add rock sugar water to boil, and take it twice a day; or add 1 liang of Houttuynia cordata and 3 qian of Huanghua, boil and take. Kangbangui alone was used to treat 26 cases. Marked effect was found in 19 cases, effective in 5 cases and ineffective in 2 cases. Two cases were treated with Houttuynia cordata and Goldenseal Flos, and both were cured. Another method was to stir-fry 1 liang of Kangbangui, add sweet wine and rock sugar, and then stew it and drink it as tea to treat 7 children in the spasmodic cough stage. After taking 2 doses of the medicine, the cough was relieved and the sleep was better at night. After 4 to 6 doses, all the symptoms disappeared.

5. Treatment of eczema: Make the Radix Kangbangui into an injection solution, with each milliliter containing 2 grams of the raw drug. 3 ml each time, injected intramuscularly, 1 to 2 times a day, reduce the dosage for children. 60 cases were treated and all showed certain effects.
