The miracle drug for treating diarrhea is so ordinary

When I was 2 years old, I had severe diarrhea. My mother said she was very worried. She went to the hospital several times and took several kinds of medicine, but the condition kept coming back.

One day, my eldest aunt, who lived 30 miles away, came to the city to see us. She happened to see my mother hugging me and crying. When my aunt heard the reason, she put down her things and left without saying a word.

She picked a big bag of wild grass like purslane on the roadside, and when she came back, she cooked some soup in a pot for me. My mother was skeptical at first, but she didn't expect that I would actually get better the next day and there would be no relapse.

Since then, my mother has had a particularly good relationship with my eldest aunt's family, much better than with the other aunts and uncles. When I grew up and heard about this, I became particularly interested in the wild grass that my aunt dug.

I heard from my aunt that this grass is called milk grass. It grows close to the ground. If you break off the red grass stems, you will find that it is full of milky white juice. Adults and children in the village use this milk grass to treat diarrhea. The effect is very good and has never disappointed anyone.

I asked my aunt, why are the stems of this grass so red? My aunt said that when Houyi shot down the sun, it saved the tenth sun. Because it looks like purslane, when the sun later gave out rewards, it gave all the credit to purslane, and the stems of the grass turned red...

Maybe it’s because of personal feelings, I always feel very close to my aunt, and by the way, every time I see this milkweed, I feel very close to it, and I even have a prejudice against purslane.

When I saw the atlas in the Chinese medicine textbook in college, I realized that the milkweed that I had always thought was a wild grass turned out to be a very famous Chinese medicine for clearing away heat and detoxifying. Its scientific name is Dijincao, also known as Xuejianchou.

Herba Euphorbiaceae is a plant of the Euphorbiaceae family. It tastes bitter, pungent and flat, and belongs to the liver, stomach and large intestine meridians. It has the effects of clearing away heat and detoxifying, promoting blood circulation and stopping bleeding, and promoting dampness and relieving jaundice. The four most common uses are:

1. Used for diarrhea caused by heat and toxicity. Dysentery, diarrhea, etc.

2. Used for various bleeding syndromes. Coughing up blood, vomiting blood, nosebleed, hematuria, bloody stool, metrorrhagia, etc.

3. Used for heat-toxic sores, carbuncles, snake bites, and swelling and pain caused by falls. For carbuncle, eczema ulcer, burns, scalds and snake bites, etc., fresh herbs can be crushed and applied externally.

4. Used for jaundice caused by damp-heat. It can also be used for jaundice in children with good results.

The "Jiayou Materia Medica" in the Northern Song Dynasty recorded the ground ivy. Zhu Su, the fifth son of Emperor Taizu of Ming Dynasty, also wrote a book called "Compendium of Herbs for Famine Relief", which recorded that the herb was a Chinese herbal medicine that could be used as both medicine and food. He said that its "seedlings taste sweet" and that it could be "picked and steamed, soaked and rinsed in water, and eaten with oil and salt."

Li Shizhen's Compendium of Materia Medica records that it can treat carbuncles, ulcers, bleeding caused by blade injuries, bloody diarrhea, bleeding, metrorrhagia, and can disperse blood, stop bleeding, and promote urination. "Bencao Huiyan" believes that ground ivy is a medicine that cools blood, disperses blood, detoxifies and stops diarrhea. It is good at unblocking blood vessels and specifically eliminates poisonous sores.

Modern pharmacological research has shown that various in vitro antibacterial test methods have shown that Herba Euphorbiae has a good anti-pathogenic effect on microorganisms, a significant neutralizing effect on the exotoxins of some fungi, and a good hemostatic effect on bleeding.

There are many folk remedies and prescriptions about ground ivy:

1. Gastroenteritis: 50-100 grams of fresh ground ivy. Decoction in water.

2. Damp-heat jaundice: 25-30 grams of whole herb of Dijin. Decoction in water.

Among various folk remedies, the most recommended one is the herb ointment, which is not only effective but also tastes good.
