It takes 300,000 bouquets to produce 1kg of saffron filaments. At many stages, rose tea is more expensive than its weight in gold. Many friends don’t know about rose tea, and don’t know what it looks like. The following will give a detailed explanation of rose tea.

Rose tea, also known as saffron, is a perennial bulbous plant of the genus Crocus in the family Iridaceae and is also a common spice. Rose tea is native to Southeast Asia, but it was first cultivated artificially by the Greeks. If measured by weight, rose tea is the most expensive spice in the world. The main stem of rose tea is scattered, the leaves are basal, long and linear, and the leaf edges are slightly curled. The flowers are terminal, with 6 petals, purple-blue; 3 pistils, light yellow; 1 pistil, the style is deeply divided into 3 parts, extending to the outside of the flower, loose, the top of the column is slightly larger, triangular, dark red, and has a unique fragrance. The flowering period is from mid-to-late October to early to mid-November.

The detailed saffron filament column is linear, with a wider top, gradually tapering to a tail shape downwards, with neatly serrated edges at the top and residual light yellow branches below. About 2.5 cm long and 1.5 mm in diameter. Dark purple or dark reddish brown, slightly glossy. It is light, soft, and brittle and easy to break after drying. When the column is put into water, it expands, and the orange component can be seen being released and gradually diffused outward, dyeing the water yellow, and the column without precipitation is shaped like a speaker.

The most common way to use rose tea is to drink it directly with the flower filaments, which is simple, convenient and effective. After saffron is soaked in water, its ingredients will gradually be released into the water, dyeing the water orange-yellow. When the components of the saffron filaments are completely released into the water, the filaments will completely fade. In addition, you can distinguish real and fake rose tea by soaking saffron in water.
