[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole body of the Yanshan cricket of the family Cercopithecidae.

[Original morphology] The Yanshan cricket has an oblong body, about 120mm long and 7mm wide. The whole body is composed of many segments. There are 54 segments from the neck plate to the anal segment. There is a pair of antennae, about 5mm long. There are 50 simple eyes on each side of the base, which are gathered in a triangle shape, like compound eyes. The first segment has no ambulacral limbs, the 2nd to 4th segments each have a pair of ambulacral limbs, and from the 5th segment to the anal segment, each segment has 2 pairs of ambulacral limbs. Each ambulacral limb has 6 segments with claws at the end. The reproductive limbs are transformed from the ambulacral limbs of the 7th segment. There are scent gland holes on both sides of each segment from the 6th dorsal plate.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: mostly live in shady and humid areas.

[Properties] According to property identification, this product is mostly semi-ring-shaped, with a total length of 5-6mm and a diameter of 5-6mm. The whole body is dark brown, with more than 50 segments, each segment has a brown ring, and most of the limbs fall off. It is light, brittle, easy to break, and has a hollow cross section. It has a faint odor, a light taste, and is poisonous.

[Pharmacological action] 1. Anti-tumor effect. 0.15-0.50g/kg of Yanshan cricket ether extract, 1.2-1.3g/kg of alcohol extract, and 0.2g/kg of alcohol ether extract were injected intraperitoneally into mice for 12-14 days respectively, which had a significant inhibitory effect on the growth of mouse solid cervical cancer. The alcohol ether extract also has a significant inhibitory effect on the growth of Lewis lung cancer in mice. The three extracts also significantly inhibited the growth of ascites-type cervical cancer, ascites-type sarcoma S180, and periascites tumors in mice. The effect of the alcohol ether extract is within the dose range of 0.05-0.2g/kg and increases with increasing dose. A dose of 0.2g/kg can even completely block the formation of ascites-type cervical cancer and significantly prolong the survival time of mice.
