[Source] Medicinal material source: The root of the Umbelliferae plant.

[Original form] Perennial herb, 0.5-1.5m high. The main root is short and thick, with 2-3 branches, yellowish brown to tan. The stem is hollow, with deep grooves, smooth or with short hairs at the base, branched in the upper part, and spreading. The petiole of the basal leaf is 5-20cm long, and the base is swollen into a flat and clasping sheath; the basal leaves and stem leaves are both pinnately divided two to three times; the leaf blade is triangular in outline, 20-45cm long, the terminal segment is rhombic-ovate to ovate-lanceolate, 5-10cm long, 3-6cm wide, acute to acuminate, with 5-8 pairs of incurved obtuse teeth or notched teeth on the margin, usually with sharp tips at the tooth ends, truncated at the base, dark green on the surface, and grayish white on the back; the leaves at the top of the stem are simplified into leafless sheaths. The compound umbel is terminal or lateral, with 5-14 rays; the peduncle is 3-7cm long; the involucral bracts are 1-3, linear-lanceolate; the umbel has 8-20 flowers, with 5-10 linear bracts; the calyx teeth are ovate-triangular; the petals are white, oblong, and the style is twice as long as the flat stylopodium. The double-hanging fruit is oblong to ovate, 4-5.5mm long and 3-4mm wide. When ripe, it is golden yellow and shiny. The dorsal ridge is thin and narrow, and the lateral ridges are broad and wing-shaped. There are 1-3 oil tubes in the rib groove and 4-6 oil tubes on the commissure, with as few as 8. The flowering period is August-September, and the fruiting period is September-October.
