[Source] It is the stem of Celastrus orbiculatus of the Celastraceae family. Available all year round. Use for drying.

[Original form] A climbing vine, several meters long. Branchlets gray, lenticels prominent. The outer bark of the stem is rough and easy to fall off. The simple leaves are alternate, leathery, broadly ovate or oblong, 8.5-11 cm long, 5.5-6.5 cm wide, with coarse teeth on the edges. The flowers are small, polygamous, light green-yellow, and terminal in panicles; the calyx is 5-lobed; the petals are 5, spreading; the stamens are 6, attached to the edge of the disk; the ovary is superior; the style is short, and the stigma is 3-lobed. Capsule, nearly spherical and divided into 3 parts; seeds have orange-yellow aril.

[Habitat distribution] Grown in mountain broad-leaved forests or bushes. Distributed in Yunnan, Guangxi and other places.

【Nature and flavor】 Sour, flat, slightly toxic.

【Functions and indications】 Dispel wind and reduce swelling, relax muscles and activate blood circulation. Treat vasculitis, pyelonephritis, and trauma.
