[Source] Medicinal material source: The root of Artemisia annua of the Scrophulariaceae family.

[Original form] Pedicularis fully fissured is a perennial herb that turns black when dry. The root is conical, fleshy, 5-6 cm long, about 7 mm in diameter, and has no lateral roots. The stems often have multiple, slightly curved branches extending from the base, with a woody base, slightly angular, and covered with short hairs. Leaves are alternate; those that are basal fall off early, and their membranous petioles often persist; petioles are 3-3.5cm long, flat, and slender, while those of cauline petioles are shorter; leaf blades are membranous, ovate-oblong, 3-3.5cm long, 1-2cm wide, pinnately divided, with 6-9 lobes on each side, ovate to linear-lanceolate, about 1-2mm wide, with base extending downward along the midrib into narrow wings, margins pinnately lobed or with notched, double-serrated teeth, with thorny tips. The raceme is terminal, with sparse flowers; the bracts are leaf-like and petiolate; the pedicels are 2.5 cm long, slender, and short-haired; the calyx is membranous, oval, and splits in front to the middle, with the split bulging in front. There are 3 calyx teeth; the corolla is yellow, 2-lipped, the upper lip is narrower and helmet-shaped, with a long beak at the tip, the base is twisted so that the helmet is reflexed upward, the lower lip is wide, nearly round, 3-lobed, and the middle lobe is narrower than the lateral lobe; there are 4 stamens, and the filaments are all covered with long soft hairs; the ovary is ovate, and the stigma slightly protrudes beyond the gray. The capsule is oval with a short convex tip. The flowering period is from June to August, and the fruiting period is August.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing on rock walls at an altitude of 3000m.

[Properties] Identification of properties: This product is slightly fleshy; conical, 5-6cm long, about 7mm in diameter, with irregular branches. The epidermis is brown-black or dark gray-brown with longitudinal wrinkles. The texture is relatively flexible. It has a faint smell and a slightly bitter taste.
