[Source] Medicinal material source: The roots and rhizomes of the Ranunculaceae plant Asteraceae.

[Original form] Split-leaf star fruit grass, perennial herb, 12-20cm high. The rhizome is short and densely covered with yellow-brown fine roots. There are 2-7 basal leaves; petiole is peltate, 6-13cm long, glabrous, with a membranous sheath at the base; leaf blade is pentagonal, 4-14cm wide, 5-lobed, lobes are triangular, margins are slightly wavy, sometimes with short pubescent hairs on the upper side, glabrous beneath. Scapes 1-3, glabrous or sparsely pubescent; bracts 5-8mm below the flower, ovate or broadly ovate, about 3mm long, nearly alternate or whorled; flowers bisexual, 1.3-1.6cm in diameter; sepals 5, petal-like, white, elliptic or obovate, 7-8mm long, 3-5mm wide, with rounded apex; petals 5, small, about half the length of sepals, yellow, nearly rounded, with fine claws at the bottom; stamens numerous, slightly longer than petals, anthers yellow, about 1mm long; carpels 5-8, glabrous. The follicles are star-shaped and up to 8 mm long. There are many seeds, which are oval, about 1.5 mm long, and brown-yellow. The flowering period is from May to June, and the fruiting period is from June to August.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in the underground of mountain forests, roadsides or shaded places near water at an altitude of 1050-2400m.
