According to the rule that train tickets start to be sold 15 days in advance, the ticket purchase dates for New Year's Eve, the seventh day of the Lunar New Year, and the Lantern Festival are as follows:

On January 14, the 2025 Spring Festival travel season officially started

Train tickets for New Year's Eve (January 28) can be purchased on January 14

Train tickets for the seventh day of the Lunar New Year (February 4) can be purchased on January 21

Train tickets for the Lantern Festival (February 12) can be purchased on January 29

In addition, it should be noted that the starting time for ticket sales at various railway stations in Guangzhou is different. The specific starting times are as follows:

①Guangzhou South Railway Station: 10:00

②Guangzhou Station: 11:00

③Guangzhou Baiyun Station: 11:00

④Guangzhou East Station: 11:30

⑤Guangzhou North Station: 11:30

⑥Zengcheng Station: 11:00

⑦Xintang Station: 11:00

From December 30, 2024 to February 8, 2025, the railway department will pilot the "system automatically submits ticket purchase orders" function for long-distance sections of trains between Sichuan and Chongqing at stations in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Guangdong. Starting from December 30, 12306 users can pre-fill ticket purchase orders for any day during the Spring Festival travel period in the "Ticket Purchase Information Pre-fill Optimization Pilot" area. Each order can choose "1 travel date + up to 60 train trips", and each person can keep up to 6 orders to be submitted, with no more than 9 passengers per order.

On the 16th day before departure, 12306 will notify users to adjust the priority of the train, confirm the information and prepay the ticket price. The prepayment amount is based on the highest ticket price. When the ticket goes on sale on the 15th day before departure, 12306 will automatically submit orders for prepaid users according to priority and queue them with other ticket purchase requests. If the ticket purchase is successful, the user will be refunded or supplemented according to the payment amount; if it is unsuccessful, a full refund will be given. Users who have not prepaid can purchase tickets manually according to the original process.

Judging from the ticket sales data of previous Spring Festival travel seasons, direct train tickets for popular routes are in short supply, especially on the eve of the Spring Festival. If passengers fail to buy direct train tickets, they can consider "buying tickets in sections".

Three types of transfers

Transfers can be divided into three categories: transfers at the same station, transfers in the same city, and transfers on the same train.

① Transferring at the same station : You do not need to leave the station. You can transfer to the train for the next trip at the same station.

For transfers within the same station, there are usually convenient transfer channels set up in the station, and staff will provide guidance services. When passengers enter the waiting room, they do not need to go through security again. They can enter the platform by swiping their ID card with the valid ID card of the connecting ticket.

Generally speaking, it is recommended to reserve about 30 minutes for transfers at the same station. However, if the passenger has a lot of luggage or is not familiar with the transfer station, it is recommended to reserve about 40 minutes for the transfer to avoid delays.

② Intra-city transfer means that the station where the passenger got off on the previous journey is not the starting station for the next journey, and the passenger needs to get on the train at another station in the same city to complete the second journey.

③ Transferring on the same train means that passengers are on the same train, and the terminal station of the first trip and the starting station of the next trip are not only at the same station, but also on the same train.

This situation applies to the situation where the direct train tickets of the same train are sold out, but the next trip of the passengers who are transferring happens to have tickets, and it is on the same train. Passengers who buy two adjacent section train tickets on the same train do not need to get off the train after completing the first section of the trip, but can change to the carriage and seat of their second section of the trip.
