Recently, the dengue fever epidemic situation in some areas is severe and has become a public health issue that cannot be ignored. According to the Guangdong Disease Control Report, from September 9 to 15, Guangdong Province reported 775 new cases of dengue fever, an increase of 73 cases from last week. Some netizens said: I have been having repeated fevers and can't sleep... It is the time for the transition from summer to autumn. The transmission medium of dengue fever has actually been around us all the time, and the risk of transmission has only increased, so don't take it lightly!

What is dengue fever?

Dengue fever is an acute insect-borne infectious disease caused by the dengue virus. It is also called "breakbone fever" because of the severe pain. The epidemic season is usually hot and humid, and mosquitoes breed, generally from May to November each year, with a peak from July to September. The incubation period is short, generally 4-7 days, and in some cases it can be extended to 14 days.

Typical symptoms of dengue fever include high fever, "three pains and three reds", rash, and bleeding. If you have the following symptoms, please seek medical attention immediately!

●High fever: It is a severe fever with body temperature reaching 39℃-40℃, accompanied by symptoms such as fatigue, nausea, and diarrhea.

●“Three pains and three reds”: “Three pains” refer to headache, orbital pain, and muscle, bone and joint pain throughout the body; “three reds” refer to flushing of the face, neck, and chest.

●Rash: Congestive rash or punctate hemorrhage rash appears on the limbs, trunk, head, and face.

● Bleeding: nosebleed, bleeding gums, menorrhagia, subcutaneous bleeding, hematuria, etc.

Why did it spread so fast?

Dengue fever spreads quickly, largely because of its transmission route - mosquito-borne transmission. The culprit is the "flower mosquito" we see every day! Their scientific names are Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus. After biting a patient infected with dengue virus, the virus will reproduce in the mosquito's body. When these mosquitoes bite healthy people again, the virus will be transmitted to new hosts, and the cycle will continue.

Now you know why it spreads so quickly! It is the mosquito season, especially in tropical and subtropical cities and regions. It is difficult to avoid mosquito bites when going out on a daily basis, so you must take anti-mosquito measures and take precautions!

Please keep this prevention guide!

There is currently no specific antiviral drug for the treatment of dengue fever, but avoiding contact with mosquitoes, seeking medical treatment promptly, and early diagnosis and treatment can reduce the risk of disease progression.

●Prevent and kill mosquitoes: remove stagnant water in the home to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds; use mosquito nets, mosquito coils, mosquito repellents and other mosquito prevention measures;

● Protection when going out: Wear long-sleeved clothing when going out to reduce exposed areas; avoid outdoor activities during mosquito active periods (dusk and early morning).

● Seek medical attention promptly: If you experience suspected symptoms such as fever or rash, you should seek medical attention promptly and proactively report the bite to enhance your awareness of self-protection.
