In the Xinjiekou commercial district in Nanjing, Jiangsu, a salesperson said that in late October, sales of down jackets gradually increased. Since April this year, the new national standard for down has been officially implemented, and the biggest highlight is that "down content" has been changed to "down content". When I looked at the tag of a down jacket, there was no "down content" mark on the tag.

What is the difference between "down content" and "down content"? In previous standards, down content included both down and single down fibers that fell off from the roots of down or wool sheets. Down fiber waste was included in the down content, which could easily mislead consumers.

Zhu Xiaofang, a senior engineer at the Nanjing Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Institute of Jiangsu Province, said that the shape of down is like a dandelion umbrella, which is relatively fluffy. The shape of down fibers is strand by strand, which is not fluffy. The old national standard includes both down and down fibers in the down content, but it is the down that plays a role in keeping warm. After the implementation of the new national standard, only the down content in down is marked.

After the implementation of the new national standard, the down content of finished clothing must not be less than 50% to be called a down jacket. When consumers buy, they can roughly judge the warmth performance of the down jacket by just looking at the down content. In addition, the down type label only distinguishes between duck down and goose down, and no longer distinguishes between gray down and white down. According to professionals, if consumers want to buy a qualified down jacket, when purchasing, they should also pay attention to whether the labels are complete, and whether the name and address, safety category, fiber content, washing and maintenance plan, etc. are marked in accordance with the regulations.
