Sifted Intelligence has released the “Ultimate B2B SaaS Startup Ranking.” French business planning software maker PIGMENT topped the list, followed by German “nocode” robotics tool WANDELBOTS and French online gaming lab HOMA GAMES.

More than a third of listed companies (36) are developing enterprise software, followed by fintech (34) and security (14).

The list reflects that we seem to be on the cusp of a new era: one dominated by artificial intelligence. In total, 38 companies have put AI at the core of their business.

Dropping off the list is London-based AI startup SYNTHESIA, which once ranked first on the list but was declared a unicorn in early June.

The startups on the list come from 17 different European countries, led by the UK (30), Germany (19) and France (16).

UK SME lender ALLICA BANK (No. 73) is the most well-funded of the 100 companies, with €450 million. COACHHUB (No. 61), a provider of training tools for businesses, received €331 million. Then there is POLLINATE (No. 87), a platform focused on acquiring merchants for banks, with a market value of €199 million.

About half (51) of the companies are at the Series B stage, compared to 23 at Series A and 18 at Series B. Only Jit (No. 59) and Guard.io (No. 81) are seed startups.

London is the city with the most companies on the list (26), followed by Tel Aviv (14), Berlin and Paris (12 each).

Only four companies on the list are very young startups founded in 2021 or 2022.

Payments company Alma (ranked 41st) and employee banking app Wageststream (ranked 46th) have the most “strong investors”, with six each, including Bpifrance, Northzone and Balderton Capital.

Only 17 of the 100 companies were founded or co-founded by women, reflecting the significant underrepresentation of women in the European and Israeli tech startup industries.
