The China E-commerce Research Center recently released a report saying that the transaction volume of China's online clothing market reached 305 billion yuan in 2012, a year-on-year increase of 49.9%. As a major clothing consumer country, clothing e-commerce still has a lot of room for development in China. The report analysis shows that the transaction volume of China's online clothing market has been increasing year by year since 2009, with the growth in 2010 being particularly rapid, with the transaction volume increasing by 100.8% year-on-year. Mo Daiqing, an analyst at the China E-commerce Research Center, believes that there are three major driving forces for the development of e-commerce in the clothing industry. First, clothing manufacturers can reduce costs and improve efficiency to gain profits through e-commerce. Second, changes in fashion require clothing companies to track market conditions in real time. E-commerce provides companies with a low-cost technical means to achieve this goal by collecting customer feedback information. In addition, both brand owners and channel operators have already used e-commerce as an important channel for clearing inventory. |
