[Original morphology] Rock ginseng is a climbing vine. The old stem is cylindrical, the outer bark is corky and thickened, yellowish brown, with longitudinal grooves; the young stem has fine stripes and obvious lenticels. Leaves are alternate; leaf blades are papery, with dense glandular dots, round-ovate, broadly elliptic or broadly ovate, often oblique, 9-21cm long, 5-12cm wide, with 7-8 veins, 2 pairs of free veins emanating from the midrib, with bases protruding from the base, and obvious reticulation. Flowers are unisexual and dioecious; spike inflorescence is opposite to leaves, 3-4cm long; female bracts are round, about 1mm in diameter, and the petiole is pubescent; ovary is free, with 3-4 stigmas. The berry has an umbilical protrusion at the tip. Flowering period is summer.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in sparse woods or dense woods in valleys and slopes, often clinging to stone walls.

【Properties】 Identification of properties: The stems and branches are slightly curved, with fine longitudinal lines on the surface and wart-like protrusions. The leaves are mostly wrinkled, and become obliquely broadly ovate when flattened, 14-20cm long, 6-12cm wide, with dense tiny glandular dots, glabrous, oblique on both sides of the leaf base, 7-9 veins, 2 pairs of free veins emanating from the midrib, and obvious reticulate veins; the petiole is long and sheath-like at the base. Sometimes you can see spike inflorescences opposite the leaves, which have a fragrant aroma and a slightly spicy taste.

【Functions and indications】Promotes the flow of qi and relieves pain; stops diarrhea. Mainly used for abdominal distension and pain; diarrhea and abdominal pain; toothache
