[Original form] Bald tea shrub, up to 2m tall. The young branches are glabrous, and the leaves are alternate; the petiole is 7-10mm long; the leaf blade is leathery, elliptical, 6-13.5cm long, 4-5.5cm wide, with an acute tip and a 1.5cm long tip, a broad cuneate base, glabrous on both sides, with sparse serrations on the margin, and 8-9 pairs of lateral veins. The flowers are white, 2 in axillary, with pedicels 1-1.4cm long, curved downward, and glabrous; 2 bracts, caducous; 5 sepals, persistent, broadly ovate, 6mm long, and glabrous; 7 petals, nearly free, obovate-round, 2cm long, 1.2-1.5cm wide, glabrous on the back, and connate at the base; many stamens, arranged in 2-3 whorls, with separate filaments, 1-1.2cm long, and glabrous; ovary glabrous, style 1.2cm long, 3-lobed at the apex. The capsule is nearly spherical, 3-cleft, 1-3-chambered, and the fruit segments are broadly elliptical.

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat, detoxifies and reduces swelling. Mainly used for mumps and sores
