What are the effects of Astragalus leaves

What are the effects of Astragalus leaves? Many people don't know how to deal with Astragalus leaves after using them. Astragalus leaves actually have many effects, and they are very good for nourishing the human body. However, if we don't know the effects of Astragalus leaves, we don't know when to choose Astragalus leaves. Astragalus leaves can specifically treat insomnia, so what are the effects of Astragalus leaves?

1. Used for weakness due to qi deficiency, fatigue, or sinking of qi in the middle, rectal prolapse, and uterine prolapse. It can replenish qi and strengthen the spleen, and is often used in combination with Codonopsis pilosula, Atractylodes macrocephala, etc.; it can be used to invigorate qi, raise yang and lift the sunken, and is often used in combination with Codonopsis pilosula, Cimicifuga heracleifolia, Bupleurum chinense, and roasted liquorice, etc. Used for spontaneous sweating due to deficiency of exterior constitution. In case of spontaneous sweating due to deficiency of the exterior, it is often used in combination with ephedra root, floating wheat, oyster, etc.; if the patient is susceptible to wind-cold due to deficiency of the exterior, it can be used together with saposhnikovia divaricata and atractylodes macrocephala. It is used for patients with deficiency of Qi and blood, internal sores, pus that does not break out, or long-term sores that do not heal. If it is used for inward-looking sores or long-term ulcers that do not heal, it can be used in combination with Codonopsis pilosula, cinnamon bark, and Chinese angelica; if it is used for pus that does not heal, it can be used together with Chinese angelica, honeysuckle, white angelica, pangolin, and soapberry thorns. Used for edema, athlete's foot, and facial edema. Combined with Atractylodes macrocephala, Poria cocos, etc.

2. (l) When using Astragalus leaves, attention should be paid to the patient's body type: Astragalus leaf constitution - the complexion is yellowish-white or faintly yellow-red, or dark yellow, all lacking luster. Swollen appearance, dull eyes. The muscles are loose and the abdominal wall is weak, like a cotton pillow. There is no resistance or pain when pressing it. The navel is deep. Huang Huang calls it "Astragalus leaf belly". Normally, they are prone to sweating, fear of wind, and are easily allergic to cold wind, or have nasal congestion, cough, asthma, or colds. The stool is unformed, or is dry at first and then becomes loose. Prone to edema, especially swelling of the feet, and numbness of the hands and feet. The tongue is pale and plump, with a moist coating.

(2) Middle-aged and elderly people have more opportunities to use Astragalus leaves: lack of exercise, malnutrition, disease, and aging can all lead to muscle looseness, especially in the abdomen, where the abdominal muscles atrophy and fat accumulates, and may be accompanied by edema. This kind of person is what the "Golden Chamber Essentials" calls a "dignified person" with "weak bones and strong skin." This body type is particularly common among middle-aged and elderly people. Therefore, Astragalus leaves are mostly used in middle-aged and elderly people. (3) Astragalus leaf must be taken for a long time in order to be effective: Astragalus leaf is not used in the Treatise on Febrile Diseases, and the treatment of "Sini" is rarely seen in the Treatise on Golden Chamber. This shows that Astragalus leaf is a medicine for internal injuries and miscellaneous diseases. According to Mr. Yue Meizhong’s experience, “Astragalus leaves are indeed effective in treating paralysis, numbness, muscle wasting and other symptoms of nervous system diseases, and for serious cases, the daily dosage must be from a few coins to several ounces, and it must be taken for a long time to see the effect.” The commonly used dosage of Astragalus leaf is 10 to 30 grams, and the large dose can reach 120 grams or even more. I once saw Mr. Sun, an old Chinese dermatologist in my hometown, use up to 500g of Astragalus leaves. However, excessive dosage can cause chest tightness, abdominal distension, loss of appetite, and dizziness, hot flashes, etc. Especially those with tight muscles and constipation should use it less or with caution. It is not suitable for people with excessive sweating, fever, or red and sore throat.

(4) Zhang Zhongjing used a dosage range for Astragalus leaves: large amounts of Astragalus leaves are used to treat water retention, yellow sweat, and edema (5 liang); medium amounts are used to treat rheumatism and numbness (3 liang); and small amounts are used to treat deficiency (1.5 liang). Modern applications can be appropriately modified based on Zhang Zhongjing's medication experience. If used to treat edema, the amount can reach 60~100g; for the treatment of hemiplegia, bone hyperplasia pain, etc., 30~60g can be used; for upper gastrointestinal ulcers, 15~30g can be used.

(5) The pulse condition of Astragalus leaf syndrome is not specific. Fangji Huangqi Ye Decoction is used for floating pulse, while Huangqi Ye Shaoyao Guizhi Kujiu Decoction is used for sinking pulse. Therefore, when using Huangqi Ye, regardless of whether the pulse is floating or sinking, the key is to see whether the body shape and muscles are soft. Several ways to take Astragalus leaves
