[Alias] Wild mosquito grass (Seed plants of southern Jiangsu), fly flower (Chinese Materia Medica), water white ginseng, white flower bottle, small-leaf carp gall, Dianthus adenophora, August white, white flower Dianthus adenophora, small fairy peach grass, white gourd, snake king grass (Commonly used folk herbal medicines in Zhejiang Province).

[Source] It is the whole herb with roots of the Caryophyllaceae plant.

[Original form] Perennial herb, 50 to 150 cm tall. The root is cylindrical, thick and long. Stems tufted, erect, woody at base, with short, rough hairs. Basal leaves are spoon-lanceolate and dense; stem leaves are linear-acicular, with sharp tips and narrow bases into petioles. The inflorescence is terminal; there is mucus on the upper part of the peduncle; the flowers are rose or white; the calyx is long tubular, smooth, with many veins and 5 lobes at the apex; there are 5 petals, clawed at the base, and the limb is 2-lobed, each lobe is more finely divided into narrow strips; there are 10 stamens; the ovary is 3-chambered, and there are 3 styles. The capsule is oblong, slightly swollen at the top and narrow at the bottom, stick-shaped, with 6 teeth at the top when mature. The seeds have tubercles. Flowering period is from July to October.

[Habitat distribution] Grown under forests and in grass on hillsides. Distributed in northern, central and southern my country.

[Chemical composition] The roots and leaves contain alkaloids, saponins, tannins, starch and other reactions.

[Properties and flavors] "Commonly used herbal medicines in Zhejiang folk medicine": "spicy, cool."

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat, promotes menstruation, replenishes deficiency and promotes blood circulation. Treat urinary tract infection, leucorrhea, dysentery, physical weakness after illness, sprains and bruises.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 1 to 2 liang; or mash and squeeze out the juice for oral administration. For external use: mash and apply.

[Additional prescription] ① For the treatment of dysentery and halophilic enteritis: add 1 liang of wild mosquito grass and 1 liang of sugar, decoct in water and drink.
