[Source] Medicinal material source: the tubers and leaves of the Araceae plant purple taro.

[Original form] Purple taro, perennial herb. The tubers are thick. The small bulbs are lateral and obovate, with brown fibrous roots on the surface. There are 1-5 leaves, growing from the top of the tuber, 1-1.2m high; the petiole is cylindrical, gradually tapering upwards, purple-brown; the leaf blade is peltate, ovate-arrow-shaped, 40-50cm long, 25-30cm wide, dark green, with a curved notch at the base, thick lateral veins, and wavy edges. Inflorescence stalk is single, the exposed part is 12-15cm long, 1cm thick, the tip is dirty green, and the rest is the same color as the petiole. Spathe tube is 4.5-7.5cm long, 2-2.7cm thick, green or purple, constricted upwards; the eave is thick, rolled into a horn, 19-20cm long, golden yellow, and opened in front of the base, about 5cm long and 1.5-2.5cm thick; the spadix is ​​unisexual; the female inflorescence at the base is 3-4.5cm long and 1.2cm thick, the ovary is green, slightly laterally flattened, the stigma is umbilical, yellow-green, 4-5 shallowly lobed, 1-chambered, and the ovaries are interspersed with rod-shaped sterile neutral flowers, yellow, truncated; the male inflorescence is 3.5-5.7cm long and 6-8mm thick, and the male flowers are yellow; the appendages are horn-shaped, 2cm long, 0.4cm thick, with fine grooves. Flowering period is from July to September.

[Habitat distribution] It is cultivated in Guizhou, Yunnan and other places in my country.
