[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Gesneriaceae.

[Original morphology] A small epiphytic shrub. The stem is about 90 cm long, with many branches, opposite branches, and old branches are square columnar, gray-brown or gray-white. Leaves opposite; petiole 2-6mm long; leaf blade thin papery: oblong, elliptic or narrowly oblanceolate, 4.5-9cm long, 1.7-3cm wide, acuminate or short acuminate at apex, cuneate or broad cuneate at base, entire, veins slender and not very obvious. The cymes grow in the leaf axils at the top of the stem, with 1-3 flowers; the bracts and bracteoles are small and obtuse; the pedicel is about 10mm long; the calyx is 5mm long, 5-parted, and the lobes are broadly ovate; the corolla is purple, about 1.6cm long, with 3-lobed upper lip and narrowly ovate lobes; there are 4 fertile stamens, extending out, and the disk is annular; the pistil is linear, 1.6-2cm long. Flowering period is from October to December.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing on trees in valley forests or on rocks beside streams at an altitude of 300-1300m.

【Functions and indications】Calming the mind; nourishing the liver; relieving cough; relieving pain. Mainly used for neurasthenia, chronic hepatitis, cough, rheumatic bone pain, and traumatic injuries

[Usage and Dosage] For internal use: decoct in water, 15-30g of the whole herb; or soak in wine. For external use: Take appropriate amount of leaves and mash them into green color.
