[Source] Melastoma candidum D. Don, a plant of the genus Melastoma in the family Melastomataceae, is used medicinally with its roots and leaves . Dig up the roots in autumn, wash, slice and dry them. The leaves are picked in summer and autumn and used fresh or dried and ground into powder.

【Nature and flavor】Sweet, sour, astringent, neutral.

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and dampness, reduces swelling and relieves pain, disperses blood stasis and stops bleeding. Root: used for indigestion, enteritis, dysentery, hepatitis, epistaxis, bloody stool, thromboangiitis obliterans. Leaves: Used externally to treat bruises and traumatic bleeding.

[Usage and Dosage] 1-2 liang of root; appropriate amount of leaves for external use, mash the fresh ones or grind the dried ones into powder and apply to the affected area.

[Remarks] (1) The plant of the same genus , Melastoma nomale D. Don, has similar effects to the previous species.
