[Original form] Parasitic herb, 15~25 cm high. Tuber woody, spherical. The stem is erect, single, reddish-brown, thick and fleshy when young, and gradually becomes longer and thinner. Simple leaves are alternate and sessile; the leaf blades are small, scaly, and triangular-ovate. The spike inflorescence is terminal, the flowers have thin stalks, each flower has a scale-like bract at the base, and no bracteoles; the calyx is cup-shaped and truncate; the corolla is two-lipped, light flesh-red, the lower lip is very short, and the three teeth are not obvious; the stamens are prominent. There are 3 carpels, placenta T-shaped, branched. Capsule, 3-valved; many seeds.

[Habitat distribution] It grows in the shade of forests in high and cold mountainous areas at an altitude of about 3,000 meters, and often lives on the roots of Rhododendron grandiflorum or Rhododendron truncatum. Distributed in provinces and regions such as Shaanxi, Hubei, Sichuan, Yunnan and Tibet.

[Functions and indications] Regulating qi and relieving pain, dispelling wind and activating collaterals, killing insects and detoxifying. Indications: stomachache, abdominal distension, trauma, rheumatic joint pain, irregular menstruation, schistosomiasis, aconite poisoning; external use for mumps.

[Usage and Dosage] 0.5~1 qian; For external use, grind the tuber into vinegar and apply to the affected area.
