[Source] Medicinal material source: fatty oil from the kernel of walnut seed of the Juglandaceae plant.

[Original form] Deciduous tree, 12-25m high. The bark is gray-brown and cracked longitudinally. Branchlets covered with glandular and stellate hairs; terminal buds naked, densely covered with yellow-brown hairs; medulla loose, lamellar. Odd-pinnate compound leaves, alternate, 40-50cm long, with 9-17 leaflets, ovate or ovate-oblong, stiff papery, 8-15cm long, 3-7.5cm wide, gradually pointed at the apex, obliquely rounded or nearly cordate at the base, with fine serrations on the margins, and stellate and glandular hairs on both sides. Flowers are solitary and monoecious; male catkins are drooping, 9-25cm long, growing in the axils of leaf scars at the branch ends, male flowers have 4 perianths, 10-14 stamens, no filaments, 2 anthers, and slightly protruding connectives; female inflorescences are spike-shaped, erect, 5-13cm long, growing at the top of new branches, with 5-10 female flowers, 4-lobed perianth, attached to the ovary, the ovary is inferior, the style is short, and the stigma is 2-lobed and velvety, dark red. The drupe is ovate, 3-6cm long, pointed at the apex, with fleshy exocarp densely covered with glandular hairs; the endocarp is hard, bony, with 6-8 longitudinal ridges and irregular wrinkles between the ridges. The seeds are small and often separated by a bony pericarp that extends inward. The flowering period is April-May, and the fruiting period is August-October.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in mixed woods on sunny hillsides at an altitude of 300-1200m or in fertile and moist soil on both sides of stream valleys.

【Functions and indications】Moisturizing the intestines and promoting bowel movements; killing parasites; healing sores. It is used for constipation caused by dry intestines, abdominal pain caused by worms, scabies, frostbite, and body odor.

[Usage and Dosage] Oral administration: 3-5ml with warm water. For external use: Apply appropriate amount.
