[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Pyrocalyx solani, a plant of the Leguminosae family.

[Original form] Wild fireball is a perennial herb, 30-60cm tall. With soft hairs. The roots are spindle-shaped, thick, and reddish brown. The stem is erect, slightly quadrangular and branched. Palmate compound leaves, alternate; 5 leaflets, lanceolate or narrowly elliptic, 2-4cm long, 0.5-1.2cm wide, pointed at the apex, serrulate at the margin, with obvious veins on both sides, finely hairy, sessile; stipules membranous sheath-like, clasping the stem, with veins. The flower heads are ovate or terminal, with short pedicels, numerous spherical flowers, and light pink to reddish purple; the calyx is campanulate, with narrow lanceolate teeth, twice as long as the calyx, and pubescent; the standard petal is elliptic, slightly narrow at the base, obtuse or rounded at the apex, the wing petals are oblong, with ears and claws at the base, and slightly wider at the apex; the keel petal is shorter than the wing petal, with short ears and claws, and often with a small protrusion at the apex; the ovary is elliptic, the style is long, curved at the top, the stigma is small, capitate, and stalked. Pods oblong, swollen, glabrous, gray-brown, with short stalks. The seeds are nearly round and gray-green. Flowering and fruiting period is from June to October.
