[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of the Poaceae plant Phalaenopsis.

[Original morphology] Achillea millefolium is a perennial herb. Has rhizomes. The culm is usually solitary or a few, 60-140cm high, with 6-8 nodes. The leaf sheaths are glabrous, the lower ones are longer than the internodes, while the upper ones are shorter than the internodes; the ligule is membranous, 2-3mm long. 05-7-4 The leaves are flat, and the young leaves are slightly rough, 6-30cm long and 1-1.8cm wide. The panicle is compact and narrow, 8-15cm long, with upward branches and dense spikelets, each 4-5mm long, containing one bisexual floret and two (sometimes one) attached below it, degenerated into a linear or scaly lemma with three veins; the glumes are herbaceous. The lemma is of equal length, rough on the ridge, with extremely narrow wings on the upper part; the lemma of the pregnant flower is broadly lanceolate, 3-4mm long, pubescent on the upper part, shorter than the lemma, cartilaginous, without awns, and with 5 inconspicuous veins; the palea is boat-shaped, homogeneous with the lemma, with 1 ridge on the back, and sparsely pubescent on both sides of the ridge; there are 3 stamens, anthers 2-2.5mm long, ovary smooth, and 2 styles. The caryopsis is tightly wrapped in the lemma. Flowering and fruiting period is June to August.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in forests, moist grasslands and wet places at an altitude of 75-3200m.

[Chemical composition] The whole plant contains three types of biological substances: hordenine, gramine, 2,9-dimethyl-6-methoxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-β-carboline, and n-octacosanol. It also contains 6-methoxy-2-methyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-β-carboline.
