[Source] This product is the dried bark and root bark of Melia toosendan sieb .et Zucc. or Melia azedarach L., a plant of the Meliaceae family. Peel it in spring and autumn and dry it in the sun, or remove the rough skin and dry it in the sun.

[Properties] This product is in irregular plate, groove or semi-roll shape, with varying lengths and widths, and a thickness of 2 to 6 mm. The outer surface is gray-brown or gray-brown, rough, with interlaced longitudinal wrinkles and dot-like gray-brown lenticels. It is light yellow after the rough skin is removed; the inner surface is off-white or light yellow. It is tough and not easy to break. The cross section is fibrous and flaky and easy to peel off. Odorless, bitter taste.
