[Other names] Alihong, Agaricus truncatula, medicinal phyllostachys

[Source] Medicinal material source: The fruiting body of the medicinal fungus Pseudomonas aeruginosa of the Polyporaceae family.

[Original morphology] The fruiting body of the medicinal fasciata is perennial. Woody, hoof-shaped, spherical to bell-shaped, lateral and sessile, (5-13)cm×(4-19)cm, 5-18cm thick. The lid surface is white to grayish white, often with a thin layer of tapetum, which gradually falls off and becomes smooth, with dirty white to yellowish-brown stains. When mature, it becomes light gray-black, the surface becomes rough, and irregular cracks appear; the lid edge is blunt and entire. The tube mouth is white; the tube mouth is round, the tube wall is thick, and there are 4 tubes every 1 mm. When mature or dry, the tube mouth surface is dirty gray to light gray-black; the fungus tube has multiple layers, each layer is about 1 cm thick, white at the beginning, and gradually turns light yellow in the later stage. The flesh of the mushroom is grayish white, almost meaty when young, soft and brittle, and becomes chalky or cheesy when mature, easy to break, and tastes very bitter. Spores are oval, smooth, colorless, (4-5)μm×(3.5-4)μm.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing at the base of old larch trunks or on felled stumps at about 3500m above sea level. It also grows on other coniferous trees and occasionally on the trunks of broad-leaved trees such as oak.

【Properties】 1. Identification of properties: The fruiting bodies are mostly horseshoe-shaped, or irregularly nodular, flat with the trunk, and more than 8-30cm in diameter. The surface is light yellow or gray-brown, relatively rough, sometimes with concentric rings or irregular cracks, and blunt edges. The surface of the tube mouth is white or light yellow, the tube mouth is round, and there are 3-4 of them every 1mm. Multiple layers of bacterial tubes can be seen in the longitudinal section. It is light, loose, fragile, and has flying dust. It has a faint smell and tastes bitter and slightly sweet.

【Chemical composition】 The whole plant contains lanosterol, sulphurenic acid, eburicoic acid, dehydroeburicoic acid, eburical, eburicol, eburicodiol, 16α-hydroxytumulosic acid, dehydroeburiconic acid, and officinalic acid.

[Pharmacological action] Poric acid causes the blood vessels around the sweat glands of animals to contract and stop sweating, but it does not affect the secretion of sweat glands or dilate the pupils. The effect lasts for about 20 minutes. Oral administration of phytosterol has a stimulating effect on the stomach.

【Identification】 (1) The powder of this product is easily soluble in ammonia water or alkaline solution and becomes viscous when in contact with water.

【Functions and indications】Relieve cough and asthma; dispel wind and dampness; reduce swelling and relieve pain; diuretic; detoxify snake venom. Mainly used for cough, asthma, chronic rheumatoid arthritis, stomachache, sore throat, periodontitis, urinary tract stones, edema, and snake bites

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 3-6g; or grind into powder. For external use: take appropriate amount, grind into powder and apply with vinegar.

【Note】 Avoid overdose. Overdose can cause agaric acid poisoning.
