[Pharmacological action] The roots of the variant of Medicago truncatula have a weak antibacterial effect against Staphylococcus aureus, but have no effect against Escherichia coli.

【Nature and flavor】 Bitter, cold.

【Functions and indications】 Clears dampness and heat, and promotes diuresis. Treat jaundice, urinary stones, and night blindness.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 0.5-1 liang; or mash into juice.

[Additional prescription] ① For the treatment of urinary tract stones: fresh alfalfa roots, mash the juice and drink it warm, half a cup each time, twice a day. (Jilin Chinese Herbal Medicine)

[Clinical Application] Treatment of night blindness: Use 1 liang of fresh alfalfa root, wash, chop and boil it into a soup, take it with the residue, once a day. Six cases were treated, four were cured and two were ineffective.
