【Excerpt】 National Compendium of Chinese Herbal Medicines

[Source] Water sedge was first recorded in Ming Dynasty's "Compendium of Materia Medica for Famine Relief", which says: "Water sedge grows by the waterside, its leaves are similar to those of ground melon but narrower, with small green follicles between each leaf, and its leaves taste bitter." Qing Dynasty's "Illustrated Catalogue of Plant Names and Realities" records: "This grass is common in Shazhou, Jiangxi, but the green follicles between the leaves are slightly reddish. I took some and cut them open, and found a small insect curled up inside each one. The south is humid and hot, and the grass and trees are condensed, giving rise to insects and moths, which are difficult to identify in detail." The original plant described and attached is consistent with the current Acanthaceae plant Water sedge.

From the above we can see that the traditional Chinese medicine water sedge has very high medicinal value, so we can consider using water sedge in our lives.
