【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat, promotes the removal of dampness, strengthens the spleen and kills insects. Treat jaundice, edema, gonorrhea, hernia, amenorrhea, leucorrhea, and abdominal pain caused by worms.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 3-5 qian (1-2 liang for fresh product).

[Additional prescription] ① Treat jaundice like gold: boil coix root into a decoction and take frequently. (Compendium of Materia Medica)

[Clinical Application] Used to expel ascariasis: slice the coix root and dry it in the sun, take 5 jin and add 10 jin of water, boil for half an hour to extract the juice, add water to the residue and boil it again, and do this for a total of 3 times; the medicinal liquid is mixed and concentrated into 2500 ml (each ml contains 1 gram of the raw drug). Adults can take 50 ml per day in 3 divided doses before meals, or take all at once. 17 people were observed, and stool examination was performed on 6 of them one week later, and the worm eggs in 4 of them turned negative. No adverse reactions were observed after taking the medicine. In addition, 2 to 3 liang of fresh coix root was decocted and taken orally, or combined with syndrome differentiation and treatment and other Chinese medicines, to treat 4 cases of biliary ascariasis, all of which were effective. After taking the medicine, the roundworms came out of the stool and the abdominal pain was relieved.
