[Original form] Caryopteris glabra, an upright small shrub, 0.5-2m high. The young branches are densely covered with grayish-white hairs. Simple leaves are opposite; petiole is 0.4-1cm long; leaf blade is lanceolate, ovate-lanceolate to oblong, 2-5.5cm long, 0.5-2cm wide, obtuse or acuminate at apex, cuneate or rounded at base, deeply serrated at margin, green on surface, pubescent, densely grayish-white hairs on back; lateral veins are 5-8 pairs, cymes are axillary and terminal, arranged closely in capitate shape; calyx is about 2.5mm long, persistent, enlarged when fruiting, about 6mm long, densely pubescent on the outside, deeply 5-lobed at apex, lobes are lanceolate; corolla is blue-purple, two-lipped, lobe in lower lip is larger, margin is fringed, corolla tube is 5-7mm long; stamens are 4, extending out of corolla tube together with style; ovary is glabrous, stigma is 2-lobed.
