The stem is erect, ribbed, and covered with stiff hairs and urticating hairs; the urticating hairs are erect and spreading, about 6mm long. Leaves are alternate; petioles are 2-10cm long; stipules are triangular-conical and fall off early; leaf blades are round-ovate, 4-17cm long, 3-15cm wide, acuminate or caudate-pointed at the apex, rounded or nearly truncate at the base, with coarse serrations on the margins, dark green above, light green below, with coarse stiff hairs and stinging hairs on both sides, and the main veins are sometimes reddish. Flowers are unisexual and monoecious; inflorescences are axillary, simple or branched, with female inflorescences borne on the upper part of the stem; male perianth is deeply lobed into 4 parts, with 4 stamens; female perianth is 2-lobed, the upper part is elliptical with inconspicuous 3-toothed fissures at the tip, and the lower part is linear and small, with long stinging hairs on the inflorescence axis. Achenes are broadly ovate, about 2 mm long, with a smooth surface or small verrucous protrusions. Flowering period is July-August, and fruiting period is August-October. [Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown under forests or in the shade of ditches at an altitude of 50-800m. [Pharmacological action] 1. Effect on the coagulation system: Intraperitoneal injection of 10g/kg of Zhejiang scorpion grass root extract (GI), scorpion grass root extract (GⅡ) and palm leaf scorpion grass root extract (GⅢ) respectively showed that GI and GⅢ had a significant effect on prolonging the coagulation time of mice. 5g/kg and 10g/kg of GⅠ, GⅡ and GⅢ were injected intraperitoneally respectively. The results showed that the three scorpion grass root extracts all had the effect of significantly prolonging the tail-cut bleeding time of mice. 1g/kg of GⅠ, GⅡ and GⅢ were injected intraperitoneally. The three scorpion grass root extracts all had the effect of significantly prolonging the rat white clay partial thromboplastin time (KPTT) and thrombin time (TT). GI also had the effect of prolonging the prothrombin time (PT). [Toxicity] The LD50 of Zhejiang scorpion grass root extract injected intraperitoneally into mice is 94.3±1.3g/kg. 【Nature and flavor】 Pungent; warm; toxic 【Functions and indications】Analgesic.
