Simple leaves are alternate and have long petioles; the leaf blades are rectangular or ovate-rectangular, 5-10 cm long and 1.5-2.5 cm wide, with short pointed, acute or slightly obtuse tips, rounded bases, glands on the small serrations on the edges, and one cup-shaped gland on each side of the leaf base, which are long and obvious, covered with stellate hairs on both sides, and glabrous on the upper side when old. Yellow-white or light green flowers bloom in summer, with racemes borne at the top of branches and covered with star-shaped hairs; flowers are unisexual and monoecious; male flower petals are rectangular, with 10 to 12 stamens; male flower petals are small, subulate, ovary covered with curved soft hairs, style 3, 2-lobed. The fruit is oblate, densely covered with stellate pubescence, and splits into three lobes when mature.
