Adobe Analytics, which tracks e-commerce and mobile shopping, said online shopping in the U.S. on Black Friday is expected to reach nearly $10 billion, a record high, while online shopping on Cyber Monday is expected to reach $12 billion, up 6.1% year-on-year. The company's data showed that as of 6:30 p.m. ET Friday, U.S. consumers had spent $7.3 billion online, up 7.4% from the same period last year. Adobe estimates that consumers will spend $9.5 billion to $9.8 billion by the end of the day, which would be a new record for Black Friday online sales, surpassing last year's $9.12 billion. Adobe said the 10 best-selling products of the day included Bluetooth headphones, Mini Brands toys, cordless and robot vacuum cleaners, kitchenware, skin care products and coffee machines. Adobe Analytics said that Cyber Monday is expected to remain the biggest online shopping day of the quarter and the entire year, with transaction volume reaching $12 billion, a year-on-year increase of 6.1%. Earlier on Friday, Adobe Analytics said U.S. consumers spent a record $5.6 billion on online shopping on Thanksgiving Day, up 5.5% from last year's Thanksgiving. The company said that was nearly double the amount spent in 2017, highlighting the shift of consumers toward online shopping. |
