Surface temperature 42 degrees Celsius,

Future Homeland Candidate +1

Astronomers used NASA's Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) to observe an Earth-like exoplanet, Gliese 12b. It is only 40 light-years away from the solar system, orbiting the cool red dwarf star Gliese 12 in Pisces, and is the closest potentially habitable planet to Earth to date.

The discovery of Gliese 12b has sparked great interest among astronomers because it provides an ideal candidate for subsequent detailed analysis.

Further observations revealed that Gliese 12b has a very short orbital period, orbiting its star every 12.8 days. The planet is slightly smaller than Earth and similar in size to Venus. Its surface temperature is estimated to be 42 degrees Celsius, which makes liquid water possible, thus increasing the possibility of life.

The discovery of Gliese 12b is very exciting because it is the closest transiting exoplanet to our solar system and has important implications for follow-up atmospheric observations using NASA's James Webb Space Telescope.

To learn more about the planet's habitability, researchers plan to continue monitoring it and determine what type of atmosphere it has. Gliese 12b could have an atmosphere similar to Earth's, an escaping atmosphere like Venus, or something in between.

The discovery helps scientists understand how rocky planets in our solar system have changed over time and why Earth is habitable while Venus is not.

Water Drop: Mosquito, you give me a sense of alienation...

I wonder if you have ever had this experience: when taking a shower in the summer, you are surrounded by mosquitoes, so you just pick up the shower head and spray it at the mosquitoes! After a fierce operation, the mosquitoes give you a few "red envelopes". In addition, mosquitoes do not disappear on rainy days.

In theory, mosquitoes generally weigh 2 to 10 mg, and the largest water droplets can weigh up to 100 mg, which is 50 times the weight of a mosquito. Compared with the weight of a water droplet, mosquitoes are like standing outdoors with a crane falling from the sky. So why haven't they been killed by the shower water?

The first secret of mosquitoes is that they are small, making it difficult for raindrops to hit them. When raindrops hit mosquitoes, they usually hit their six legs, which will cause them to be knocked over in the air, but they can quickly restore their balance by rolling sideways up to 50 degrees.

The mosquito's body is covered with a large number of hydrophobic hairs, which means that even if they are hit by a raindrop, they will not merge with the water droplets, but will quickly fall with the water droplets. The mosquito can freely adjust its posture during the fall, quickly separate from the raindrops, and resume normal flight.

The second secret of mosquitoes is their strong exoskeleton. Because mosquitoes are light, raindrops do not slow them down much after hitting them, but instead give them a great acceleration, carrying them down with them. Mosquitoes can withstand up to 100 to 300 gravitational accelerations, which is quite high in the animal kingdom.

After reading this study,

The midnight snack in my mouth doesn't taste good anymore

There has always been a saying that "dinner determines your body shape", saying that you should not eat dinner too late, otherwise you will gain weight. Is there any scientific basis for this? Foreign scientists have conducted such an experiment:

The study selected 20 healthy volunteers (10 men and 10 women), with an average age of 26 years old and an average body mass index of 23.2, who were accustomed to going to bed between 22:00 and 01:00 and had a fixed sleep time. The two groups had dinner at 22:00 and 18:00 respectively, and were given the same calorie diet.

The volunteers then went to sleep at 23:00. The researchers found that even though they ate dinner at two different times, the blood sugar levels of those who ate at 22:00 were higher than those who ate at 18:00, and the amount of fat they consumed was relatively lower. The peak glucose level of the volunteers who ate dinner at 22:00 increased by about 18%, and the amount of fat they burned throughout the night decreased by 10%.

The researchers explain that this effect may be more pronounced in people with obesity or diabetes, whose metabolism is already impaired.

What do these research data show? It shows that turning dinner into a midnight snack can cause nocturnal glucose intolerance and reduce fatty acid oxidation and mobilization, especially for those who sleep early. Eating dinner late for a long time may promote obesity, fatty liver, cardiovascular disease, stomach disease, etc., and affect your life span.

In fact, it is very difficult for you to buy fake medicine...

We may have seen this news on the Internet: "The antihypertensive drug actually sprouted? I was afraid I bought a 'fake drug'!" So is this really a fake drug?

Some patients have a habit of removing the packaging after buying medicines and putting the medicines into their own medicine boxes classified by day, and planning in advance which medicine to take on which day. However, when the humidity in the air is too high, the water will enter the tablet through the semi-permeable membrane layer, and the red layer inside the tablet will expand, thereby pushing the yellow layer of medicine out. This is the "germination" phenomenon you observed. Therefore, this is not a fake medicine, but it is not stored properly.

The same drug may be produced by different manufacturers, and the formulas and processes of these manufacturers may be different. This involves the concept of original drugs and generic drugs. So are generic drugs fake drugs? No.

Original research drugs refer to the first drugs developed in the world. After the patent of original research drugs expires, governments of various countries will encourage their own pharmaceutical companies to develop generic drugs. This is a good thing, because it can reduce the country's medical insurance expenses and the burden of medicine for ordinary people, making medicine affordable for more people.

Since 2016, our country has required domestic generic drugs to pass the generic drug consistency evaluation. In other words, generic drugs should be consistent with original drugs in quality and efficacy. Drugs that have passed the generic drug consistency evaluation will have a small blue label on the packaging.
