[Source] It is the fruit of the Saxifragaceae plant Deutzia serrata .

[Original form] Deciduous shrub, up to 2 meters high. The twigs are hollow, reddish brown, with stellate hairs when young, smooth and flaky when old, and the buds have numerous imbricate scales and are glabrous. Leaves are opposite; with short petioles; leaf blades are ovate to ovate-lanceolate, 5-12 cm long, 2-4 cm wide, with pointed or obtuse tips, slightly rounded base, and small teeth on the edges; with stellate hairs on both sides, and the stellate hairs on the back have 10-15 radiating branches. The panicle is erect, 2.5 to 10 cm long, with white flowers or pink spots on the outside, 1.2 to 1.8 cm long: the calyx is cup-shaped, with 5 teeth, the lobes are triangular, and fall off early; the petals are 5, oblong, and covered with stellate hairs on the outside; the stamens are 10, and the longer filaments are the same length as the petals, with teeth at the tip of the filaments; the styles are usually 3 and free. The capsule is nearly spherical, flat at the top, 4 to 5 mm in diameter, and contains many small seeds. Flowering period is from May to June.

[Habitat distribution] Grown in mountains or planted in gardens. Distributed in the Yangtze River Basin and North China.

[Additional prescription] For treating thirty-six diseases of the lower part of the body in women, infertility and miscarriage: one liter each of plum kernel and magnolia, seven pieces of kudzu vine, five pieces of zelan seeds, two liang of scutellaria, and one liang of angelica root.
