【English name】 LIMONITUM

[Source] This product is a hydroxide mineral limonite , mainly containing alkaline iron oxide [FeO (OH)]. After excavation, remove the debris.

[Properties] This product is a block aggregate, in the shape of an irregular rhombus, 5 to 10 cm long and 1 to 3 cm thick. The surface is reddish brown, grayish brown or light brown, often uneven or covered with yellow powder. The cross-section shows alternating layers of dark brown and light brown or light yellow. Each layer has different hardness, and the loose part can be scratched by fingernails. Heavy, hard texture. Odorless, tasteless, and no gritty feeling when chewed.

[Identification] Take 0.1 g of the powder of this product, add 2 ml of hydrochloric acid, shake, let stand, and the supernatant will show the identification reaction of iron salt (Appendix IV).

[Preparation] Yu Yuliang : Remove the debris, wash off the dirt, dry and you'll have it.

【Nature and flavor】 Sweet, astringent, slightly cold.

【Functions and indications】 Astringent and antidiarrheal, astringent and hemostatic. Used for chronic diarrhea, dysentery, metrorrhagia, and leucorrhea.
