The sporangium is oblong with a small pointed end; the sporophylls are hexagonal with a concave center. Reproduction by rhizomes or spores.

The rhizomes germinate in early March and produce spore spikes in April. When they mature, they scatter and germinate, becoming autumn weeds.

Widely distributed everywhere, likes to be near water, and is a weed in farmland. However, the occurrence is small and the harm is not great. In Henan Province, it is one of the main weeds in hills, beaches and wheat fields.
