[Source] Medicinal material source: The tuber of Begonia heartleaf, a plant of the Begoniaceae family.

[Original form] Perennial succulent herb, 15-22cm tall. Stemless. The underground tuber is spherical, about 1 cm in diameter. 1 leaf, petiole 9-13cm long, glabrous; leaf blade ovate-cordate, 4-11cm long, 3-9cm wide, apex short and acuminate, base cordate, nearly symmetrical on both sides, glabrous above, sometimes slightly sparsely pubescent on the main vein below, brown on both sides after drying, with irregular teeth on the edges. Cyme, peduncle grows from underground stem, nearly as long as petiole; flowers are pink, male tepals 4, outer 2 ovate, about 4.5cm long and wide, inner 2 elliptic-lanceolate, about 4mm long and 1.5mm wide, inner 2 elliptic-lanceolate, about 4mm long and 1.5mm wide, filaments shortly connate at base, with about 12 filaments, anthers elliptic, longitudinally fissured; female tepals 4, styles mostly connate, petiole about 2m long. The capsule is ovate, with three wings, one of which is larger, sickle-shaped, and blunt-headed.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: grows on moist rocks under forests.

【Nature and flavor】 Sour; astringent; cold

【Functions and indications】 Cooling blood and stopping bleeding; relieving pain; detoxifying. Mainly used for vomiting blood, hemorrhage, traumatic injury, and snake bite

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 9-15g. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash fresh product for application.
