[Source] Medicinal material source: The stem of Celastrus orbiculatus of the Celastraceae family.

[Original form] Round-leaved Celastrus is a deciduous climbing shrub, up to 18m long. Leaves are alternate; petiole is 1-2cm long; leaves are papery or membranous when young, nearly round or broadly elliptic, 6-10cm long, 5-7cm wide, with rounded and sometimes obtusely acute apex, broadly cuneate or rounded base, glabrous on both sides, 4-6 lateral veins on each side, obvious on both sides, and sparse reticulate veins. Inflorescences are axillary, usually with 3-7 flowers; pedicels are 3-5mm long, covered with powdery pubescence; sepals are triangular, obtuse, and about 1mm long; petals are linear-lanceolate, about 4mm long; stamens are about 3mm long, and filaments have powdery papillae; ovary is nearly spherical, and the stigma is 3-lobed and curved outwards. The capsule is spherical or nearly spherical, 6-7mm in diameter, and contains 3-6 seeds. The seeds are cylindrical, slightly curved, dark brown when mature, with tiny short horizontal stripes or small pits. Flowering period is from February to April.
