[Original form] Perennial herb, 55-75cm tall. The roots are thick, fusiform, and light brown to purple-brown in surface. The stem is glabrous, with longitudinal stripes, and fibrous leaf sheaths often remain at the base. The petiole of the basal leaf is 4-7.5cm long and has narrow wings; the leaf blade is 3.5-6cm long, 2.5-5.5cm wide, once pinnately divided to 3 deeply divided, with 1-3 pairs of pinnae, 2-3cm long, 1-2.5cm wide, irregularly 3 shallowly divided at the tip, cuneate at the base, with notched serrations on the edges; the apex or middle lobe is larger, and the apex is often 3 shallowly to deeply divided. The compound umbel is terminal or lateral; the involucral bracts are 4-5, leaf-like, 7-13mm long, often 2-3-lobed at the apex, with slightly purple teeth; the rays are 5-8, and the rays on the side branches are slightly shorter; the involucral bracteoles are 3-4, ovate-lanceolate or oblanceolate, 4-6mm long, entire or 3-lobed at the apex, with 1 vein; the umbel has 7-14 flowers; the calyx teeth are nearly semicircular; the petals are white, with short claws at the base, and 1 vein; the style base is cylindrical; the style is short and straight when young, and spreads outwards in fruiting. The fruit is broadly ovate, 2-3mm long and 2.5-4mm wide; 5 main ridges; 2 dorsal groove oil tubes, 3 lateral grooves. Flowering and fruiting period is from May to September.

【Nature and flavor】 Spicy; bitter; neutral

【Functions and indications】Disperse wind and dampness; relieve pain and detoxify. Mainly used for colds, coughs, rheumatic bone pain, muscle pain, migraine, and sores.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 3-9g. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash it for application; or decoct it in water for washing.
