[Source] It is the whole herb of Lygodium japonicum, a plant of the Lygodium japonicum family . Harvested in summer and autumn.

[Original form] Perennial climbing herb, up to 7 meters high. Pinnae are numerous, opposite, oblong-triangular, 16-25 cm long, with a petiole about 2.5 cm long, and 2-pinnate in odd numbers; 1 time there are 3-5 pairs of pinnae, alternate, with a petiole 3-7 mm long. The lowest pair is triangular-lanceolate, 8-10 cm long, pinnate at the base, the second or third pair or more of pinnae are lanceolate, undivided, base auriculate, the terminal pinnae are lanceolate, 6-10 cm long, obtuse, base nearly rounded, sometimes with a confluent lobe; the final pinnae are 1-3 pairs, nearly sessile, triangular-ovate to broadly lanceolate, 1.5-5 cm long, base deeply cordate, margin with small serrations; leaf blades are herbaceous, veins slightly bristle-covered; rachis is ± curved, with narrow wings. The sporangium spike is linear, 8 to 9 mm long, and brown; there are wart-like structures on the surface of the spores.
