[Source] Medicinal material source: the rhizome or whole herb of the Polypodiaceae plant Pteris cretica.

【Original morphology】 Plant height 60-100cm. The rhizome is thick, long and horizontal, densely covered with dark brown, lanceolate scales, gradually pointed at the apex, rounded at the base, and nearly entire. Leaves are distal and nearly dimorphic; petiole of nutrient leaf is 20-40cm long, straw color, with several narrow grooves after drying, sparsely covered with scales; leaf blade is papery, oblong-ovate, 20-50cm long, 15-25cm wide, with one deep pinnatifida reaching the rachis; pinnae or lobes are 4-10 pairs, opposite, all separated at the bottom, linear-lanceolate or lanceolate-oblong, 5-20cm long, 1.5-3cm wide, gradually pointed at the apex, slightly narrow at the base and extending downward into narrow wings, entire or sometimes shallowly wavy, with cartilaginous edges; petiole of spore leaf is longer, leaf blade is the same shape as nutrient leaf; veins are obvious on both sides, lateral veins and veinlets are slightly raised, veinlets are reticulate, internal veinlets are usually forked or sometimes single, with rod-shaped water sac at the top. The sori are linear, brown, obliquely spreading, almost close to the midrib but not reaching the leaf margin, arranged in a row between each pair of lateral veins, continuous or sometimes discontinuous; there is no sori cover.
