[Source] Medicinal material source: the algae of the plant Oysterleaf of the Ulvaceae family.

[Original morphology] The algae are bright green, clustered, 2-4cm high, and deeply cracked into many lobes from the edge of the algae to the base, overlapping each other, like a double flower, with slightly curled edges. The upper part of the body is membranous, 30-50 μm thick; the base is 100-125 μm thick, cartilaginous, and slightly hard. The cells are rectangular, and as the algae thicken at the bottom, the cells become prismatic, with the length being 1.5-2 times the width.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: grows above the mid-tidal zone, on rocks with sand or on the edge of rocky swamps.

【Properties】 Identification by properties: The algae dries up into clumps. After being flattened in water, the fronds are green, 2-4cm long, densely clustered and slightly expanded. The thallus is deeply divided into numerous lobes or branches, which overlap and have twisted edges. The upper part of the thallus is membranous, 30-50μm thick, the lower part is 100-125μm thick, the base is hard, with a slight odor and a light taste.

[Chemical composition] The algae contains sulfated polysaccharide and methyl di-α-L-rhamnoside.
