[Source] Nerium indicum Mill., a plant of the genus Oleander in the family Apocynaceae, is used its leaves as medicine. It can be harvested in all seasons and used fresh or dried.

[Toxicity] Symptoms of poisoning : headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, irritability, and talking nonsense. Afterwards, the patient's limbs became cold and sweaty, his face turned pale, his pulse became irregular, his pupils became dilated, and he became insensitive to light. He then had convulsions, coma, cardiac arrest and died.

[Nature and flavor] Spicy, bitter, astringent, warm. Very poisonous.

【Functions and indications】Strengthening the heart, promoting diuresis, removing phlegm and killing insects. Used for heart failure and epilepsy; used externally to treat paronychia, alopecia areata, and kill flies.

[Usage and Dosage] Daily dosage: 3-5 li of dry leaf powder, 3-4 fresh leaves, decocted in water and taken in 3 doses; for external use, appropriate amount, mash the fresh leaves and apply to the affected area.

[Note] It is highly toxic and should not be taken in excess. It must be used under the guidance of a physician and should not be taken by pregnant women.
